My classes are welcoming and inclusive. I want you to feel like you belong as soon as you enter. Most importantly, I hope classes will help you respect and honour your body regardless of what phase you are in life. Yoga taught me to stop punishing my body and to love it in its current stage; I hope you find the same through my classes.

Hi! I'm Sam (or Sammy if you like that better). I'm a 200 hour YTT and have been teaching in various studios for the past five years. I have continuing training in prenatal yoga, and kept up with yoga during my own pregnancy.
I immigrated to the US earlier this year after meeting my husband in Japan. I'm originally from Australia, but will forgive you if you think I sound British.
Other than yoga, I enjoy accidentally killing my plants, losing at darts to my husband and listening to "divorced dad rock".
Testimonials
What style of yoga do you teach?
Classes are vinyasa yoga. If you’ve ever participated in a flow class or watched a yoga video online, you’ve likely seen a vinyasa class. In Sanskrit, “vinyasa” means “to place in a sacred way” and in this context, means that poses and their order have been mindfully chosen to flow together. Colloquially, a “vinyasa” is a set of postures transitioning from plank to cobra to downdog or their modifications.
Can beginners join?
Yes! Anyone who is medically fit to participate in class is welcome. Yoga poses can be modified to suit your body in its current state. I demonstrate poses and will break down everything with cues. It is very rare to be the only beginner in a class, so you’ll be in good company!
Can I practice while pregnant?
If you have the all clear from your physician- Yes! Poses can be modified for the pregnant body. Generally, most poses are safe for the first trimester. Participants in their second trimester will be guided through modifications such as open vs closed twists and poses that avoid lying on the belly or supine. Always let the instructor know if you are pregnant.
Can I practice postpartum?
If six weeks have passed since giving birth and you have the all clear from your physician- Yes! Generally, most poses are safe for postpartum bodies, but participants are encouraged to ease back into practice. Always let the instructor know if you are postpartum.
Can men join?
Absolutely. Maybe you can convince my husband to join while you're at it.
Can I bring my baby/ child?
Mum and baby classes will be offered in the future, but for now, classes will be adult only.
If you have booked a class and need to cancel last minute for childcare reasons, please reach out!
What should I bring to class?
Please bring water (no glass bottles) and a non-slip yoga mat. A face towel is also very useful. Yoga/pilates socks are not necessary, but are encouraged if you prefer to not be completely barefoot or need extra grip for your mat. Since classes will be outdoors, feel free to bring anything else that will make the experience more comfortable for you.
What's behind the name "Iron Lotus"?
A bit of silliness. I'm a metalhead and don't take much seriously.
